Should phones be allowed in schools?

There is nothing wrong with using technology in the classroom but on the other hand, it can be distracting for students, today I am going to look at both sides of this argument.

Arguments against the use of phones at school

Most students at school would own a phone and that means a lot of kids may use their phone during class which I personally do not agree with. Firstly, it is distracting. If students are allowed to use their phone in class they can download a game and play it during class or they can check their social media, send texts to other students in class and getting them to check their phone, and it can also interrupt learning time when the teacher is telling everyone to turn devices off. Secondly, people can cheat using their phones! If they let students use their phones in class during a test, they can cheat and search up the answer online and use it! It can lead to poor understanding of the subject when they grow older.

Arguments for the use of phones at school

If everyone uses their devices correctly during class, it can be helpful for them! Firstly, if there is a emergency, they can call their child to come home while they are at school or if they had forgot something and had left it back at their house they can call they parents to come bring it to them. Finally it can be used to play educational games, watch educational videos to help better their understanding of the topic that they are doing.

I think that phones shouldn’t be allowed at school, and in case of an emergency, parents should call the school staff and not their phones as it may cause disruptions in class, if students end up bringing their phone to school I think they school bring it to the teachers at the beginning of school and collect it at the end of the day.

SLJ Paying it Forward

If I were able to go back in time to the 1930s during the great depression and help the families I would buy them clean water, Money, a house, clothing, a car, games, food, medicine and some toys to play with and education for their children.

Plan a Party

For maths this week we are planning a party! We had a budget of $200 and we had to buy food, decorations and entertainment then add them all up. The easy part for me was finding what I was gonna buy, the hard part was staying inside the budget. 

Holiday Weeks

Today in Cybersmart we were learning the number of weeks are in holidays in different countries, I did it buy opening a Google Spreadsheet and putting in the amount of weeks in the holiday fr the country and the country, then I inserted a chart changed the colors and then I posted it my blog!

Background Burner

Today in cybersmart we used this thing called Background Burner and I took a photo from online and took it to the Background burner and it took off the background for me, then I found a underwater ocean online and put it behind then I added text. The thing that was easy for me was finding a picture, the hard part was burning the background. 

Adding Decimals Animation

This week we got to do our own maths Learn Create Share about adding and subtracting decimals, I chose to do adding decimals since we just learnt about it.

Maths Challenge

For maths this week we had a challenge to do and we had to buy some food from KFC, Mcdonalds, or Burgerfuel for our friends, I bought it for Aween and Aween Bought some for me. The challenging part was totalling up the cost.

This week we are doing a Thinking about Decimals activity for maths.

Minecraft Hour of Code

Today we were doing Cybersmart with Mrs G, and for Cybersmart today we are doing Minecraft hour of code, I completed The Minecraft Adventurer and The Minecraft Designer coding activity.

Grocery Store Maths Activity

For maths this week we are doing this grocery store maths activity. The easy part for me was adding them up together, and the hard part was thinking of what to eat and drink for the day.

Persuasive Plastic Bags Poster

For reading this week we are doing a persuasive poster about plastic bags or dogs on leads giving our reasons if we are for or against it and I did both of them. The easy part was finding pictures, the hard part for me was thinking of reasons to ban plastic bags.

Adding Decimals

For our maths this week we are doing this Menu Activity where we get to order from Lone Star, then we had to total up the meal after that we added it all together. The easy part for me was ordering the food, then the hard part was totalling it all up.

Me, We, Them

This week for our reading we need to do this work sheet called Me, We, Them for our conservation topic. The easy part was writing it all down, the hard part was thinking of stuff to put in my worksheet.

For our reading tasks this week we need to create a word cloud about Conservation, this is my Word Cloud. The easy part was choosing the fonts, the hard part for me was thinking of words to put into my word cloud.

STEAM Information Presentation

In week 10 we are doing a STEAM Fair and here is our information for our poster board. 

New Zealand Places diagram

In this task we learnt the Maori and English names of places around New Zealand

 and found where they are placed. I found it hard to pronounce the maori words

           and I really enjoyed dicovering where in New Zealand they are.

The Data Bank Research Company

For maths, we are doing a learning game called the Data Bank Research Company.

For one of my reading tasks we have to do 'The Ice Experiment' and design Jordan's science project.

Today in Cybersmart we did videos on blog comments.
